Broad St. Bristol
2 bed contemporary apartment
Acquired November 2020
Generously sized two double bedroom apartment
Contemporary building in the heart of the old city
Modern fixtures throughout
The Location
Based in the heart of Bristol, we acquired this rental two bed apartment on Broad St. at the height of the pandemic. Despite doubts over the long term future of city centres in general from both a residential and commercial perspective; with two established universities, a strong tourist market and world renowned street art, we feel Bristol has stronger resilience to ride any headwinds.
The home, a first floor, two bed apartment, forms part of a thoughtfully designed contemporary block, crafted to blend seamlessly into Bristol’s historic Broad Street, in the centre of the old city. Steeped in history, Broad St formed one of the four original streets in Bristol and prominent nods to its past can be seen in The Old Council House and St Johns Gate, the last remaining part of the old city wall, at either end. The street now boasts the Palestine Museum and Cultural Centre, Conor Harrington’s graffiti piece ‘Natural adventures’ and an excellent creperie.
The other notable building on the street, NatWest Court, adjoins the building itself. Once dubbed Bristol’s ugliest building, NatWest Court, once home to the employees of the firm of the same name, comprised 117 thousand sq ft of brutalist 70’s architecture.
In 2018, planning was granted for a mixed use development, consisting of a hotel, commercial and residential units, a development that promises to offer fresh life and a more pleasing aesthetic to the immediate surrounding area, including a grand entrance through the stunning Everards Printworks. The areas bright future, providing another strong reason for the acquisition.
The Property
The property itself, a generously sized, two bed open plan apartment, is turnkey ready and despite its historic surroundings, benefits from being recently built and finished to a good, modern standard throughout. Boasting a clean, contemporary look, with wooden flooring throughout, large sash double glazed windows and open plan living area, it makes for comfortable, convenient and contemporary living in the epicentre of Bristol.
